Service Desk Hours

Desk services are available whenever the library is open. All materials should be checked out prior to closing time.

Library Cards

The La Verne ID card is your library card. La Verne students, faculty and staff are required to have La Verne picture ID card to check materials out. ID cards can be obtained at Woody Hall. A government-issued ID, plus your University ID number, may be used in lieu of a University ID card.

Holding an Item for Checkout

Placing a hold on Wilson Library materials that are currently checked out may be done by a patron through the library catalog. Once that item is returned and checked back in, you will receive an email-notification and the item will be kept on hold for pick up for 10 days.

Loan Policies

Book and video/DVD loan periods by type of patron are listed in the table below. Laptops, headphones, and flash drives are available for check out, see Tech Lending. Reference books, periodicals, and microfilm are not available for check out. Loan periods for other materials will vary.

Overdue Notices

The library emails courtesy reminders, overdue notices and fine notices. These notices are sent only to La Verne email accounts.

You will receive:

  • A courtesy notice 3 days before your library books or videos/DVDs are due.
  • A second notice reminding you that your library items are overdue 10 days after the item was due.
  • A bill for the item(s) 20 days after the item was due. (For more information on billed items, see the Fines Policy).

Recalls

Wilson Library guarantees an initial loan period of 35 days for books. After this time, books may be recalled for another patron.

Book Search Request

If an item in La Verne Books catalog is listed as available but cannot be found on the shelves, circulation staff will search shelves for the item over a period of 3 days. Forms are available at the Circulation Desk. Patron will be notified as to the status of the item.
