Fines Policy

Books and Media

When books and/or media from the Wilson Library are overdue, you will be billed from the 20th day as if it was lost. Until that time there are no daily fines.

Technology

When a laptop, MacBook, netbook, or iPad is overdue, you will be billed from the 20th day as if it was lost. Until that time there are no daily fines.

At the time of billing:

  • Laptops and MacBooks will be charged $1200
  • iPads  will be charged $500
  • Netbooks will be charged $250

When one of these billed items is returned the fine will be adjusted to $20.

No refund will be given for returning a borrowed item after payment of the replacement fee.

Hourly Reserves

Hourly reserve items are charged $1 for every hour they are overdue.

Daily Reserves

Daily reserve items are charged $5 for every day they are overdue.

Interlibrary Loan

Borrowers are responsible for the replacement charge of their interlibrary loan book if  it becomes very overdue.

Replacement fees will be determined by the loaning library.

Replacements

Please contact Circulation staff to discuss whether you may purchase a replacement copy for a lost or damaged book from the Wilson Library General Collection. If approved, the replacement copy must be brought to the Circulation Desk within two weeks of the billing date and be new.

The Library will not accept replacements for lost or damaged DVDs or VHS tapes.

Account Holds

Please note if your balance equals $100.00 or more, and/or a borrowed item has not been returned, you will be placed on financial and transcript hold at the University of La Verne. This hold will only be lifted when all unreturned items are returned (or replaced if that permission has been granted), or, if there are no outstanding borrowed items, when at least 50% of the fine total is paid AND this payment brings the fine balance total to less than $100.00. Also, you will not be allowed any check outs if your library fines exceed $25.00.
