The Wilson Library welcomes gifts in the forms of endowments, bequests, special gifts, printed materials, and equipment for the enhancement of Library collections and support instruction and research at the University.
Monetary donations may be given to the library through ULV University Advancement.
- Gift Policy for Print Books and Journal Issues
Gifts of books to the library are accepted with the understanding that materials will be evaluated using the same criteria as materials which are purchased. The library will not accept gifts that are damaged (i.e. by water, smoke, mildew, excessive wear, etc.) or gifts that have been discarded from other libraries. The library does not provide any estimate or statement regarding the value of gifts.
The library only accepts donations of journal issues that replace missing issues in its current print holdings. Exceptions may be made for extremely rare or valuable serials, serials of particular interest to the University or those that are valuable to teaching and research at the University.
Donors are requested to provide a list of materials for consideration that includes title, author and date of publication. Large gifts of print material will not be accepted unless the donor has first contacted the library at acquisitions@laverne.edu or spoken with the library's Resource Development Librarian.
Gifts that are accepted become the property of Wilson Library. Decisions about retention, classification, location and use will be determined by the Library in accordance with our resource development policy. Donors must sign a form releasing the materials to the ownership by the library. These forms are available at the Circulation Desk.
Major gifts and rare materials for the archives and special collections are handled through the University Librarian's office.
