Policies and Rules Governing Faculty Research Study Rooms
The purpose of the policy is to establish procedures for equitable assignments and use of faculty research study rooms in the University of La Verne Wilson Library. The Wilson Library provides a limited number of small locked study rooms to facilitate research and publication projects requiring extensive use of library resources. Since demand for studies exceeds the number available, the Library Administration will assign study rooms based on actual or projected use. Study rooms are not provided as an office, a conference room or retreats for projects that do not require frequent access to library resources.
- Study rooms will be assigned on a first come first serve basis.
- Study room assignments are valid for one semester and expire at the end of each semester.
Procedures for Applying for a Study Room
To request a room applicants must submit a written justification to use a study room and provide a brief description of the research or publication project. Due to limited number of research study rooms, it may not be possible for all applications to be approved.
- All applications must be received two weeks prior the start of each semester.
- All applicants will be notified of the decision by letter or e-mail no later than the first week of each semester.
- Once assigned a study room, the assignee must come to the Library Administration office room 245 located on the third level of the Wilson Library to sign out a study room key.
- A $35.00 key deposit is required.
- The key will be signed out only to the person to whom the study room is assigned.
- Extra keys will not be issued.
- Key deposit will be forfeited if the key is lost or if it is not returned at the end of the room assignment.
- Renewal for a study room requires a new application. Renewal request must be submitted prior to the expiration date. Decisions on renewals are based on written justification for continued use and are not automatic. Failure to renew or extend an assignment results in cancellation of assignment.
Regulations Governing the Use of Study Rooms
- No Smoking is allowed in the building.
- Food is not permitted in the study rooms. No electrical appliances used to heat or prepare food are allowed in the study rooms. Violation of this regulation will result in cancellation of the study room assignment. Drinks in covered containers are allowed.
- Library material left in studies overnight without being checked out will be removed and returned to their proper collection location.
- The Library assumes no responsibility for personal items left or stored in rooms.
- The Library does not provide mail, telephone or message service to the faculty studies.
