Fines
As of July 1, 2007, the following policy applies to overdue materials:

When an item (book or video/DVD) is overdue by 20 days, you will be billed for the item as if it is lost. Until the time you are billed there are no daily fines. At billing time, you will be charged $100.00, which includes a $75.00 replacement fee, plus a $15.00 processing fee and a $10.00 Administrative Charge.

If you return the billed item, $90.00 will be credited to your account; leaving the $10.00 Administrative Charge.

If you have lost a book before it is due and notify the Circulation Department, the $10.00 Administrative Charge will not be charged to your account.

Instead of paying for a lost book or video/DVD, you may replace the item. In this case, the $75 replacement fee will be credited to your account. However, the $10 Administrative Charge and $15 processing fee will remain on your account.

Please note if your balance equals $100.00 or more you will be placed on financial and transcript hold at the University of La Verne. Also, you will not be able allowed any check-outs if your library account exceeds $100.00.

Overdue Notices
Beginning July 1, 2007 you will receive:

  • a courtesy notice 3 days before your library books or videos/DVDs are due.
  • a second notice reminding you that your library items are overdue 10 days after the item was due.
  • a bill for the item(s) 20 days after the item was due. (For more information on billed items, see the Fines Policy).

Book Search Request
If an item in ULV Libraries' Catalog (LEOpac) is listed as available but cannot be found on the shelves, circulation staff will search shelves for the item over a period of 3 days. Forms are available at the Circulation Desk. Patron will be notified as to the status of the item.
